The Danish government has paid $557,000 in unemployment benefits to Islamic State (ISIS) jihad fighters, who apparently are considered on the jobless list while fighting for the radical Islamic organization that likes to behead their enemies in Syria, which includes just about everyone except themselves.
“STAR [Danish Labour Agency] has thus far received information pertaining to 32 people who, according to PET’s [Security and Intelligence Service] information, have gone abroad in relation to the conflict in Syria while at the same time receiving social benefits,” according to an Employment Ministry document obtained by Danish Radio24syv
A similar report last November revealed that at least 28 jihadists were receiving unemployment benefits from the Danish government but that 15 of them were asked to pay back the money.
Now, try to imagine that a good jihadist will painfully search his conscience, lay down his assault rifle, and rush to the nearest bank – if there are any more in Syria – and send a money order to the Danish government.
Justice Minister Mette Frederiksen, told about the payments last year, told the tabloid BT:
It is incredibly important that we are not naive.
Apparently they are not totally naïve because at least 115 Danish citizens have left to fight with the ISIS. So hats off to Copenhagen for not paying unemployment benefits to approximately 68 terrorists. Perhaps the Danish government has discovered that the 68 jihadists are getting paid by the ISIS and that the 32 others are not.
Or perhaps their families in Denmark are receiving their loved ones’ monthly ISIS salary checks, which would mean the terrorists are officially employed.
Peter Skaarup, legal draftsman of the Danish People’s Party, said several months ago:
I think that many Danes feel to laugh over that one pays cash benefits to persons not resident in Denmark. These are people who go there and fight in a holy war against Danish forces while they receive Danish cash – it can hardly be worse.
But it is worse, because nothing has changed since November except that now there are more jihadists getting paid.
Sending out checks to the “unemployed” terrorists obviously encourages more Danes to play both sides of the street.
On the other hand, it is a nifty way to thin out the radical Islamic population in Denmark, assuming that most of the jihadists don’t return home alive.
If there is an outcry from other quarters such as the White House, that Denmark is in effect aiding and abetting terror, perhaps President Barack Obama will turn his attention to similar phenomena elsewhere, namely Ramallah.
The Palestinian Authority pays a healthy sum of money every month to terrorists who are serving time in Israeli jails.
