A delegation of Egyptian security officials headed by Ayman Badia, head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service, arrived Thursday in Gaza for meetings with Hamas officials.

The delegation met with Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Gaza City.

The talks focused on the issue of who now serves as staff at the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt, after the Palestinian Authority withdrew its personnel earlier this week.

The delegation also discussed the so-called “reconciliation” efforts between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority’s leading Fatah faction, and Egypt’s ongoing effort to secure a ceasefire between Israel and terror groups in Gaza.
