Two major Japanese airlines grounded their Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplanes after one was forced to make an emergency landing due to battery problems and a burning smell in the cockpit.
The emergency landing happened at Takamatsu airport in Western Japan. One man in his 60s was taken to the hospital to treat hip injuries resulting from sliding down the emergency ramp. No other passengers or crew were injured.

The 787 relies more heavily on electrical signals to power the plane’s functions than any other modern passenger plane.
The US Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the worthiness of Boeing 787s operating in the United States.
