Assad’s Syrian Army is not going to throw in the towel at Quneitra on the Golan Height, after losing it to Syrian rebel groups last week.

The IDF reports there are fierce battles going on with the rebels. With the different forces fighting for control over the Quneitra crossing as we speak.

IDF radio report that loud explosions are being heard in Israel, from the fighting.

The control over the border crossing with Israel has significant symbolic importance, which also results in it having strategic importance.

Last week, UNDOF troops, except for the Filipino UN troops, abandoned their posts along the border after the Rebels attacked the UN positions, capturing a number of UN peacekeepers/observers.

UPDATE: A mortar has landed in Israel
