Jumping. Tapping, Flying across the stage. More than 100 Jewish women are on their toes (literally) this week in DAMES of the DANCE – UNITY. The eighth annual charity dance spectacular by women and teens from Gush Etzion and Efrat delves into the theme of Achdut (Unity) through all forms of dance.

The show opened on Monday to rave reviews at an Efrat matinee, and continues in Gush Etzion on Thursday, March 12 and Sunday, March 15.

The show’s theme was inspired by the tragic events of the summer, which brought about an unparalleled feeling of unity in the nation. From praying together to caring for the soldiers to doing acts of kindness, the Jewish people were united for the benefit of one another.

DAMES 8 shows many sides of unity among people despite their differences. The dance pieces are funny, dramatic, inspirational and wild. The costumes range from gorgeous and glittery to gay and charming.

In the past seven years, DAMES of the DANCE has donated 260,000 NIS to charity through the Gush Etzion Foundation in order to feed the region’s needy before the Passover holiday.

DAMES of the DANCE is the brainchild of Sharon Katz, who is also the founder of the Raise Your Spirits Theatre company. Nine choreographers not only dance with their troupes, but come together in a fusion piece that brings together their many styles in a dance of unity to the song, “The World is Ours.”

Tickets are available for the Thursday and Sunday shows by clicking on www.damesofthedance.com or calling 052-957-0802.

Sunday’s show includes a bus from Jerusalem with stops at the Binyanei HaUma and Inbal Hotel. For information, call 052-386-3987.
