Former President Shimon Peres was released Tuesday from Sheba Hospital at Tel Hashomer Medical Center in Tel Aviv, five days after entering for treatment of a mild heart attack.
“Five exciting days have gone by for me,” Peres told reporters. The 92-year-old former statesman underwent cardiac catheterization last Thursday after an angiogram revealed the narrowed artery in his heart.
“I am very happy to return to work, and there is much work to do. This was the goal of my recovery,” he told reporters.
Peres was scheduled to participate tomorrow in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. However, doctors have advised him not to travel to the conference. It is not yet clear whether he will comply with the advice.
“I want to thank the wonderful team of doctors and nurses who treated me and who reminded me of the spirit of Tel Hashomer, where everyone is equal, and which treats people as well as the diseases themselves,” he said.
