The victims of Palestinian Authority terrorists’ deadly shootings shortly before Shabbat have been identified as Rabbi Yaakov Litman and his 16-year-old son Natanel, who with the rest of their family were on their way to a Shabbat celebrating the upcoming marriage of the rabbi’s daughter.
Their funerals are taking place at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Rabbi Litman’s wife and one other child were wounded n the shooting. Natanel reportedly called security forces before dying from his gunshot wounds.
The murders took place two miles south of Otniel in the southern Hebron Hills. The Litmans were headed for Meitar, a large suburban Be’er Sheva located a mile inside the security fence and a checkpoint.
The terrorists escaped and are believed to have come from Dura or Yatta, where they could easily hide amid a large Arab population.
Security personnel have found an abandoned car which probably was used by the terrorists. The vehicle was south of Hebron.
Southern Hebron Hills Regional Council chairman Yochai Damri stated Saturday night:
Senior IDF officers were at the scene of the attack, including the Chief of Staff…
The army will increase patrols on roads in our area.
The terrorists want to make us afraid and make us leave. The only answer is to strengthen settlements.
