The funeral for Nadia Haroun, the deputy head of what remains of Egypt’s Jewish community was held on Thursday on Cairo’s Adly Street Synagogue, according to a report in Al Ahram. Her sister Magda Haroun is the head of the community, and was appointed last year following the death of Carmen Weinstein, the community’s previous leader.

Haroun died on Thursday of a heart attack.

There are an estimated 100 Egyptian Jews that remain living in Egypt.
