At least ten rockets were fired by Gaza terrorists at Israeli civilian targets over the Passover holiday.
One rocket caused damage to civilian infrastructure in Sderot, landing near a synagogue where hundreds of Israelis were praying at the time. The rocket exploded in the road outside, causing damage.
No casualties or injuries were reported in any of the attacks.
In response, Israeli Air Force aircraft targeted two terrorist activity sites in southern Gaza and a third site in the central part of the region. An IDF spokesperson announced that direct hits were confirmed.
Despite this escalation in violence the traditional post-Passover ‘Maimouna’ festivities were held in the south on Tuesday night.
In a separate incident a bomb was detonated Monday evening against IDF soldiers patrolling the security fence in southern Gaza. Less than a day later, at 7:15 Tuesday morning, Palestinian Authority Arab terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at IDF soldiers patrolling along the security fence in the same area. The IDF spokesperson reported no damage or injuries and said soldiers returned fire with a mortar barrage aimed at the area from which the anti-tank missile had been fired.
IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said, “Israeli civilians celebrating the last day of the Passover Holiday woke up to the sound of Code Red alarms and rockets. It is our obligation to seek out and target those who wish to attack our civilians and soldiers and to eliminate their capabilities. Hamas rocket terrorism is an intolerable reality Israelis should not have to accept.”
Since the beginning of 2014, more than 100 rockets launched from Gaza have struck southern Israel.
