IDF Major General (res.) Amos Yadlin insists Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization does not want a war right now.
The former head of the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate told Israel Radio on Wednesday (Dec. 13) in an interview that Hamas has no interest in fighting a war with Israel in Gaza at this time, Independent Media Review Analysis (IMRA) reported.
Yadlin made the statement following the news that Israeli intelligence and security forces foiled plans by Hamas to abduct Israelis during the Chanukah holiday.
The last war with terrorist in Gaza was caused by an abduction carried out by Hamas. Three Jewish teenage boys were kidnapped in Gush Etzion by Hamas terrorists, ostensibly to be used as negotiating chips in an attempt to pressure Israel into releasing imprisoned Arab terrorists. The kidnappers murdered the boys when they became worried the operation was in jeopardy.
The IDF recently began a new campaign to discourage Israeli youths from hitchhiking anywhere in Israel, but especially anywhere in Judea and Samaria, where bus service is less frequent and the practice of hitchhiking is much more common.
