Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization executed three men on Thursday for the assassination of top Hamas commander Mazen Fuqahaa.
The senior military commander in the Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades was serving nine life sentences in an Israeli prison, but was released in a prisoner swap in 2011 in exchange for former IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. He was shot four times at point-blank range by someone using a gun fitted with a silencer.
The alleged perpetrator and one man accused of being his accomplice were both hanged on the orders of the Hamas Interior Ministry. The second alleged accomplice was executed via firing squad.
The executions were both captured by still photography from a distance, and also broadcast live – apparently secretly – via Facebook, according to a Gaza-based news outlet which said Hamas had warned against publishing the execution images.
