Hamas test-fired a medium-range M-75 missile Tuesday night, firing it into the Mediterranean Sea but with its explosion shaking up residents in Ashdod, Ashkelon and other coastal cities.

Channel 2 television reported that the M-75 missile carried a slightly larger warhead and longer range than similar rockets that can reach 50 miles, a distance that includes Tel Aviv.

The Jewish Press reported here earlier this week that rocket fire on Gaza Belt communities is only a warm-up for an attack on metropolitan Tel Aviv, the industrial heart of Israel.

Hamas fired the M-75 missiles on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in November 2012, when Israel’s Iron Dome system intercepted the rockets during the IDF’s Pillar of Cloud counter-terrorist operation.
