After a complex military operation overnight that included a firefight lasting into Sunday morning in the Palestinian Arab city of Jenin, IDF soldiers captured a wanted Hamas terror fugitive and his brother.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with Israel’s Security Agency, the Shin Bet.

The IDF military forces were not deterred by the entrenched Hamas operative who had refused Saturday night to comply with a demand to surrender to arresting officers.

The fugitive, Kais a-Sa’adi, had barricaded himself in his home during arrest operations carried out by the IDF’s elite Duvdevan Unit.

Soldiers surrounded the house and fired a missile at the building.

Arab media reported that troops subsequently left the city without arresting the fugitive, but did arrest his brother. However, Israel’s Channel 10 television news reported that two suspects were taken into custody.

An M-16 assault rifle was also discovered, along with several homemade bombs (improvised explosive devices, or IEDs) at the home.
