An IDF soldier is in stable condition after being struck in the face by a machine gun bullet that was fired from a tank in his unit near Gaza on Thursday.

The tank unit was involved in a military operation, but it is not known why one of the battalion’s soldiers fired the gun and why a bullet was in the gun when it was not supposed to be loaded.

The wounded soldier was standing nearby and suffered injuries to his jaw. The military noted that it was miracle that the bullet did not strike a few niches towards his head and cause a more serious injury, or death.
