IDF tanks fired on a terror cell operating in central Gaza late Thursday night, IDF and Palestinian sources said.
The IDF spokesperson said soldiers manning an observation post spotted a group of Palestinians as they were attempting to plant explosives along the security fence separating Israel from the Gaza Strip. Medics in Gaza said two people sustained moderate wounds and were evacuated to a hospital nearby.
Terrorists fired a rocket into southern Israel in response, hitting open ground and causing no casualties, the IDF spokesperson said. It was the second rocket attack in 24 hours.
Last month terrorists from Gaza fired over 40 rockets and mortars into Israel.
