An Iranian pilot flying for Turkish Airlines was refused entry into Israel on Friday night, according to Channel 2.

Turkey asked Israel for a one night exemption for the pilot, but the Shin Bet, Israel’s Security Agency refused fearing it would set a precedent.

Turkish Airlines hired 200 Iranian pilots after a shortage of their own pilots, and they had ensured Israel that none would be flying to Israel.

Iran and Israel do not have diplomatic relations. Iran keeps threatening to wipe out the Jewish state.

The pilot was sent back on the next flight out.
