The IDF has deployed four Iron Dome anti-rocket systems in the wake of renewed missiles attacks from Gaza, which is supposed to be controlled by Hamas.
Salafists, affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) ideology, have claimed they shot the missile on southern Israel last Thursday night. It fell short of its target and hit a residence in Gaza.
“We have the Salafist groups here in Gaza pledging their support to Islamic State,” Gaza’s al-Azhar University Prof. Mukhaimer Abu Saada told the BBC Friday.
He added:
They very much identify with Islamic State in terms of their ideology and their radical interpretations of Islam and the Koran. They are unhappy with Hamas because they believe it has not implemented Islamic law and because Hamas has reached an understanding with Israel, which put an end to the war in the summer of 2014.
Hamas Deputy Foreign Minister Ghazi Hamad insists that the ISIS does not have a formal organization in Gaza.
