Israeli Defense Forces retaliated Saturday night in response to shelling from across the northern border in Syria earlier in the evening.

“IDF forces targeted the Syrian military artillery position that was the source of the previous fire in the northern Golan Heights,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.

“The errant projectile was a result of Syrian internal fighting.”
