Israel has begun sending illegal African infiltrators to Uganda, the country the Theodore Herzl once imagined more than a century ago would be the home of a Jewish state.
Activists who encourage the infiltrators to demand remaining in Israel have argued that sending them to Uganda does not mean that they will be allowed to stay there instead of being sent back to their native countries and face possible prosecution.
The claim that the African migrants are legally entitle to asylum is spurious because according to international law, that status applies only to the country where they arrived after leaving home In the case of the Africans, they usually arrive in Egypt before crossing illegally into Israel.
