Israeli police on Tuesday shut down an office in the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina that was operated by the PA security forces to map and keep track of land sales by Arabs to Jews in Jerusalem.
The police statement said that “the office passes on the names of people who want to sell land and houses in eastern Jerusalem to the Palestinian security forces in Ramallah, among other things, and when there is a suspicion of fraud or an intention to sell a house or land to a Jew, an investigation is opened by the Palestinian security services.”
Dr. Khalil Tukfaji, a geographer who researches Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria, was arrested and taken for questioning. Tukfaji later told Ha’aretz that police confiscated computers and bags during the raid on his office.
