The Israeli delegation know that it is not “surprising” that the United Nations has never labeled any group as a terrorist organization.
The U.N. Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC), the fig leaf for terror created after 9/11, included Syria as one of its members in 2002 and 2003.
There obviously is no way that the United Nations will accept Israel’s demand that it recognize Hamas as a terrorist group.
But Israel may suffer by winning half of its demand: The United Nations could easily jump on the request and indeed recognize Hamas, just as it recognizes Iran and Syria, North Korea and dozens of other countries who live and breathe on terror.
