The town of Jatt in Israel’s “Arab Triangle,” east of Hadera, on Sunday removed its offensive “Yasser Arafat Street” signs (See: Netanyahu Vows to Cancel Street Named after Yasser Arafat). The move was in response to Interior Minister Arye Dery’s 48-hour ultimatum, driven by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who vowed on his Facebook page to remove the abomination.

The Interior Ministry issued a statement on Sunday, saying that the Interior Minister “was satisfied by the Jatt local council’s decision to remove the signpost naming a street after Yasser Arafat.” The statement also referred to the Jatt town council’s decision to remove additional “questionable signs,” but did not specify.
