Israeli firefighters extinguish a fire caused by kites flown from the Gaza Strip, June 5, 2018.

Firefighters battled a number of blazes in the Eshkol Regional Council district on Tuesday as Gaza terrorists launched arson kites and firebomb balloons from the Gaza Strip.

Over the past several weeks, arson squads launching kites and balloons over the border have set ablaze thousands of acres of farmland in the Gaza Belt region, causing more than $2 million in damage.

The IDF has accused Gaza’s ruling Hamas terrorist organization of directing the arson attacks. On Sunday, the military posted a video showing Hamas operatives preparing incendiary balloons and then launching them across the border.

“The arson attacks are a deliberate act of terrorism carried out by Hamas against Israeli civilians, farmlands and nature,” an IDF Spokesperson said.
