An IDF Reserve Officer Eliav Gelman hy”d has succumbed to the grievous wounds he suffered after fighting off an Arab terrorist during an attack Wednesday at the Gush Etzion Junction.
Gelman was targeted by the terrorist but managed to pull out his pistol to defend himself during the attack, which took place at a hitchhiking post at the Gush Etzion Junction, about 15 minutes south of Jerusalem.
A 31-year-old resident of the Jewish community of Carmei Tzur — which he helped to build — Gelman grew up in the Gush Etzion town of Kiryat Arba. He was a father of two and soon to be three: his wife is in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
The Gush Etzion Regional Council said in a statement, “The Council and residents of the region join hands in sending their condolences to Gelman’s family, and embrace them in deep grief.”
Details of the funeral are not yet complete.
