Rioters ignite fire in front of the Jericho Hospital over fears of COVID-19 virus, Feb 20 2020

Palestinian Authority Arabs living in the ancient town of Jericho panicked this week over rumors that a patient was suffering from COVID-19 in their town, and had been admitted with the Wuhan coronavirus to the local hospital.

A firm denial from the Palestinian Authority Health Minister did nothing to quell the hysteria, which led to riots photographed by Yinon Idan.

Arab citizens burned tires at the entrance to the Jericho hospital one night, although it is unclear why the demonstrators thought burning tires would prevent the virus from spreading in the community.
