The Jerusalem Light Rail was damaged this morning (Wed. March 25) after it came under an attack by Arab terrorists hurling a hail of rocks.
The barrage began at around 8 am, as the train moved through the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat, where the line services Arab commuters who work at jobs in the capital.
No passengers were physically hurt in the attack, although a number were traumatized, as often happens. Arab attackers have “doubled down” on the Light Rail as an easy target to go after and it is not yet clear which authority should be making the final decision about which steps to take for its protection.
Several of the cars were damaged, with windows having been damaged along with some other hey elements of the equipment. Thousands of shekels’ worth of damage was added to the millions of shekels’ worth that has already been caused by the intifada this past year alone.
Security forces were summoned to the area to search for the attackers, who remain at large thus far.
“This has become an ongoing nightmare,” one of the passengers told the Hebrew-language 0404 website. “It’s beyond me to see how we can stop it. But in Tel Aviv, this would not have happened.”
