The main entrance to Jerusalem on Sunday was shut down to private transportation and will remain in this state for the next three years, as the city launched a major project to renovate and modernize the entrance to the city and make it more accessible to incoming traffic.

Heavy traffic is expected to plague the area until it is reopened in three years.
