The raid at Al-Makassed Hospital

(JNi.media) Acting on information that the Al-Makassed Islamic Charitable Society Hospital in eastern Jerusalem is concealing terrorists, police on Wednesday raided the institution twice, looking for evidence of cooperation between the hospital and Arab terrorists, Kikar Hashabbat reported.

Dr. Ali al-Husseini, head of the workers’ union in Al-Makassed, stated that a confrontation between the hospital guards and soldiers took place during the first raid, as more than forty Israeli soldiers stormed the hospital building in search of outpatient medical files, according to Palestinian media.

Jerusalem Police say that the medical staff at Al-Makassed, a 250-bed hospital with in-patient and out-patient services, have been collaborating with terrorists and rioters, especially those who are injured during riots, and allow them to hide within the hospital walls.

Over the past 24 hours, police raided the Al-Makassed Abu Tor compound twice, the first time in search of documents about a stone throwing Arab boy, the second time about another boy, who had thrown a Molotov cocktail. On their second visit, after not finding the documents they were looking for, security forces confiscated a central computer.

Police say Al-Makassed has crossed a red line, accusing the hospital of not reporting arriving wounded, even after police request the information. A police source made it clear that these raids will continue as needed. The hospital is angry about the raids, claiming that police “trample the sanctity of the place.” Dr. Husseini also called for protection for the hospital, which Israeli forces raid repeatedly.
