Arab violence against Jews continues in Israel with daily riots and attacks on Israelis.
A Jewish teen was attacked by an Arab teen as he walked through the Muslim quarter of the Old City in Jerusalem late Wednesday.
While Israel Police have not released details of the incident, spokesperson Luba Samri said that although the Jewish teen was badly shaken, he did not require medical treatment.
The attacker was arrested and taken into custody.
Dozens of Arabs in local “hot spots” around the capital continued to riot on Wednesday as well.
Police riot police were called to quell disturbances in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Isawiyya Wednesday morning.
Dozens of Arab teens launched exploding fireworks and hurled rocks and firebombs (Molotov cocktails) at Border Guard Police officers who were stationed in the area.
The riot unit used stun grenades to disband the mob. No arrests were made and no injuries were reported, according to Samri.
By Wednesday afternoon, a mob of masked Arab teens began rioting in the Silwan (Shiloah) neighborhood, nestled just below the ancient walls of Jerusalem’s Old City. The rioters again hurled rocks and firebombs at police who were stationed in the area. Riot police called to disperse the mob used stun grenades to break up the disturbance.
No arrests were made in either riot but police are searching for the organizers. None of the officers were injured in either incident.
Clashes also broke out between Jews and Arabs at a solidarity protest and counter protest over a Palestinian Authority terrorist prisoner who is on a hunger strike.
Mohammed Alla’an, a member of the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, is on day 60 of his hunger strike. He is hospitalized at Barzilai Medical Center.
Demonstrators were protesting the possibility that the terrorist might be force-fed, although the hospital released a statement Monday saying that doctors see that procedure as “a drastic step that is not in line with medical ethics. Therefore it must be done with the consent of the patient or reserved only for situations where health has declined to where drastic treatment is needed to save a life.”
Israeli Arab protesters outside the hospital were waving Palestinian Authority flags which police said were not approved as part of the demonstration. PA flag-waving in pre-1967 Israel can also be seen as a provocation.
They were confronted with a counter demonstration by local Jews who yelled anti-Islamic slogans such as, “Muhammad is a pig.” Some also carried signs that police said constituted incitement as well.
