Israeli Arab MK Ahmed Tibi publicly thanked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday for helping to “get out the Arab vote.”
Tibi, chairman of the Ta’al party, is part of the Joint Arab List faction. He said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 television, “Our campaign was asleep – weak, limping – only two weeks ago.
“Then last week, someone, a magician, set off alarm clocks at the entrances to every Arab community.
“That was Benjamin Netanyahu,” he said. “That was the ‘cameras bill’ (urging the placement of cameras to monitor activities in Arab polling places to ensure legitimacy.)
“Suddenly, Arabs rushed to the polls in droves,” Tibi said, underlining a phrase used in a 2015 Election Day warning by Netanyahu urging Likud voters to get out the vote, “The Arabs are flocking to the polls in droves.”
Tibi likewise tweeted his joy again on Twitter: “We voted in droves.”
