The prison parole board on Thursday rejected former president Moshe Katsav’s request for early release. Katsav was convicted of rape and other sex crimes and sentenced to seven years in prison, out of which he has served four years and eight months.

Former banker Eti Alon, who was serving 17 years for embezzling hundreds of millions of dollars and causing the collapse of a bank, was granted early release after having served more than 14 years.
