Kenyan authorities declared Tuesday morning that security forces have taken complete control of the mall and that no hostages remain, but Al Shabaab terrorist spokesmen claim live hostages still are trapped by attackers.
Kenya declared that a third terrorist has been killed, but the announcement came after authorities said the siege is over. Based on the assumption that approximately 15 terrorists attacked the Westgate Mall on Saturday, there still are about a dozen remaining alive.
Explosions were heard Tuesday morning, and some reports said they were from gunfire, while Kenya maintained there were controlled explosions inside the mammoth mall.
The official death toll is 68 but is expected to rise.
