“It is important to try to find a way to negotiate. But I think we’re best when we try to work quietly at that and that’s what we are doing now,” Kerry said.
He knows very well there are not “negotiations,” and Israel finally as understood so.
Netanyahu has stated recently, “It is also clear to the Palestinians that these places will remain under Israeli sovereignty in any future arrangement. ” That was true three years ago, but the more concessions Israel has made to Abbas, the more he wants.
The Al Quds report presumably celoms from Said Arikat, the Arab propagandist who covers the U.S. State Dept. and peppers the daily briefing with questions on behalf of the Palestinian Authority.
The report also comes days before senior PA negotiator Saeb Erekat will meet with Kerry on Monday. He would not arrive unless he were assured that he would not leave with empty hands.
Obama and Kerry have closed their eyes to Abbas’ following the old line, perfected by Iran, of calling off negotiations until a concession is granted, and then suspending negotiations again until another concession is made. In the end, the point of no return is reached, and the other side has no choice other than to raise the white flag.
Kerry has carried the white flag in his suitcase for Israel to hold, but Netanyahu is likely to leave it for Kerry to hold in Iran.
Then someone in the White House can insult Netanyahu again.
