Friends and family mourn during the funeral ceremony of Dalia Lemkus from Tekoa on Tuesday.

In November 2014, Palestinian Authority terrorist Maher Hamdi el-Hashalmoun murdered Dalia Lemkus (26) and attempted to kill two more people at a bus stop near Alon Shvut in Gush Etzion.

Dalia Lemkus lived in Tekoa and was the daughter of Olim from South Africa. SHe had been attacked by a terrorist in 2006, and survived.

Hashalmoun expressed no regret for his actions, and even justified them based on his Islamic religious faith.

Hashalmoun initially tried to run the Jewish hitchhikers over with his car, and when that failed, he got out of his car and began stabbing people.

He was shot by another civilian who was passing by.

Lemkus’s mother demanded the death penalty for the terrorist, but the court, which never imposes the death penalty on terrorists, settled for two life sentences, and awarded the Lemkus family with NIS 4 million compensation to be paid by Hashalmoun.
