The IDF Spokesman’s Unit confirmed Wednesday that border units fired on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip after an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated adjacent to military engineering vehicles on the western side of the Israel-Gaza border fence during a routine patrol.
No injuries or property damage to Israeli forces were reported.
The army said the IEDs were placed along the border during mass protests over the past two Fridays, and added that “the IDF holds Hamas responsible for everything that happens inside the Gaza Strip and emanating from it, and will not permit the terror organization to turn the border area into a battlefield.”
