Just about eight miles up the road is Hebron, a hotbed of radical terrorism. Hattin said a radio station was shut down by the IDF, a station that was exhorting its listeners to violence, inciting murders and stabbings. That was a helpful act, but much more needs to be done.
Hattin continues, “We are looking for a creative solution, an out-of-the-box answer, perhaps, something that will stop the deaths and devastation of our children.”
When asked how the children are faring, Hattin says she knows so many are suffering from PTSD, but everyone ‘knows’ Israeli kids are resilient, so there is no money available for any counseling for these children. She sees the effects on her own children, every single one of whom has witnessed an act or the direct aftermath of terror.
“We are having a rally today, because we want peace restored to our streets, we just want everyone to be safe. This is our cry to God for mercy and our plea to the authorities to protect our children.”
Several hundred people gathered at the Gush Etzion junction for the Mothers Unite! rally. There was singing and speeches and solidarity.
What they still need is better security.
