Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of the Security Cabinet headed to the Mt. Avital overlook in the Golan Heights on Tuesday for a special security briefing by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Unsurprisingly, few specifics were shared with journalists. “I am impressed by the major work the IDF is doing to defend our borders and our state,” Netanyahu said. “We want peace but we are prepared for any scenario and I suggest that no one test us.”
Netanyahu said he “similarly promised the widow of Rabbi Raziel Shevach, z’l,” that Israel would “settle accounts” with her husband’s killer. “I want to praise the IDF, the ‘Yamam’ special ops division of Israel Police and the Israel Security Agency Shin Bet intelligence agency for doing exactly this,” he said.
“So it will be with the abhorrent murderer of Rabbi Itamar Ben-Gal,” the prime minister promised. “We are all with his family, and his widow.”
