Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu headed to Tel Aviv for an emergency meeting with Defense Secretary Avigdor Liberman at midnight Wednesday night.

The two men were to meet at the Defense Ministry office at the IDF Kirya headquarters. Liberman met earlier in the evening with the heads of military divisions.

From around 7:30 pm to midnight Wednesday, approximately 70 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel. The IDF reported that the Iron Dome aerial defense system intercepted 11 launches.

The majority of the other rockets hit open areas, the military said.
