Hezbollah, heavily financed by Iran, recently has built an airstrip in Lebanon and near the Syrian border as Iran and the terrorist army and political organization deepen their involvement in defending the Assad regime.
The strip also could be used for Iranian-made advanced drones with a range of 1,000 miles, easily putting Israel as a target. Hezbollah last year and in 2010 launched an Iranian-made UAV to Israel, which shot them down.
Janes Defense Weekly reported that it discovered the airstrip by using satellite images from Google Earth.
The report said that the strip is too short for most transport planes smuggling weapons from Iran and is possible meant for Iranian-made UAVs that have been used to help Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fight rebel forces.
The airstrip was constructed in the northern Bekaa valley between February and June 2014 and was built over a shorter existing strip.
Janes reported that two buildings spotted approximately one mile from the airstrip are large enough to store UAVs.
