Of course, by just about every measure, the world has grown increasingly dangerous over the past dozen or so years, not less so, and Cuba’s various military units are still known as the “revolutionary” forces. But this reset fits in with all the rest. What’s probably operating, of course, is Obama’s belief that U.S. relations with the rest of the world can be corrected by pressing “reset” buttons.
It’s easier to hold that view, of course, if you’re unaware that, as a recent report explained, Iran has for quite a long time been deepening its relations with all of Central and South America as part of its effort to “bring America to its knees.”
Given the ongoing love-fest with Iran’s mullahs, this warm and fuzzy outreach to Cuba’s dictators is, sadly, not so surprising. But does the new bear hug to Cuba indicate the direction in which the U.S. is heading with Iran?
