Jerusalem (TPS) – Husam Ashhab, a 19-year-old Palestinian Authority resident of Qalandiya, has been indicted at the Jerusalem District Court for buying and selling weapons and arms, some of which were used to commit terror attacks.
According to the indictment, Ashhab sold a Carl Gustav rifle in March, 2016 to Abed Harub, who used it the following day to carry out a shooting attack in Jerusalem. Harub, together with another terrorist, first shot at people at a bus stop at the Ramot Junction and then drove towards the Old City where they shot at passing cars before being shot and killed by police. One Israeli was critically wounded during the attack.
Ashhab also committed several shooting attacks by himself, the indictment added. He shot at Israeli security forces who came to demolish a terrorist’s home in Qalandiya in November, 2015. He took a rifle he had hidden in a neighborhood near his home and fired five shots at military vehicles. He also shot at an IDF pillbox in Qalandiya one week later.
The Jerusalem prosecutor is requesting to have Ashhab detained until the end of court proceedings against him.
