The driver is from the town of Mevasseret Tzion, west of Jerusalem, and an  occupant in the car was identified as a tourist from Europe. The attackers shot at the vehicle shortly after the two had returned from a hike.

In  the south, two mortar shells were fired on the Eshkol region in what is becoming a daily occurrence, possibly Islamic terrorist organizations challenging Hamas’ authority. The shells exploded in an open area.
