Two members of the Palestinian Authority security force were reportedly killed Thursday in clashes with Arab fugitives, the Ma’an news agency said.
At least two more were reportedly wounded in the clash, which took place in northern Samaria, in the city of Shechem.
A spokesperson for the PA security forces said a search was launched to track down and arrest the Arabs who wounded and killed the officers.
The circumstances behind the shootout were not made clear, but tensions are rising in Judea and Samaria as local elections are drawing closer.
The Hamas terrorist organization is claiming that Israel is plotting together with the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority government in Ramallah to influence the elections and prevent Hamas from taking over.
