The Civil Administration will begin allowing Palestinian Authority doctors to drive their personal cars over the Green Line and into pre-67 Israel.
This will be the first time since the year 2000 that personal cars with Palestinian Authority license plates will be allowed to freely cross over the Green Line. Official had restricted their access due to all the terror attacks by Palestinian Authority Arabs.
The permission will initially be granted to approximately 100 PA doctors who need more timely access to the Israeli hospitals where they work.
Security officials will be evaluating the permission on an ongoing basis.
In a few months, the permission may be expanded to include businessmen and merchants. In addition, other entry restrictions on PA Arabs have already been relaxed, based on age.
The Almagor organization, which represents Israeli terror victims, criticized the plan, saying it increased the risk of terror attacks against Israelis.
Meir Indor, who heads Almagor, said that he hopes the Civil Administration acts fairly, and if Palestinian Authority vehicles can enter [Green Line] Israel, then Israelis should be allowed to enter Area A, where Jews are currently not allowed to go.
