Then there was a report on a speaking fee of $150,000 Peres received from Keren Hayesod-UIA (United Israel Appeal), officially intended for distribution to needy families. An Israeli clean politics organization named Ometz has approached Peres demanding disclosure of how much of this money actually ended with its intended recipients.
Peres spokeswoman Ayelet Frisch told Calcalist that Chemi Peres founded Peres & Associates “after realizing that the philanthropic resources are not enough to maintain social projects to promote peace. Over the years it became clear that fundraising does not permit maintaining and expanding such projects over time.”
Frisch added: “We are interested in the Startup Nation, in the fields of agriculture, medicine, areas Chemi Peres is interested in, where the products are used strictly for good causes. It’s also part of our ideology that seeks to advance the Israeli industry.”
For a generous retainer and 8 percent off the top, that’s one lucrative ideology.
