Former President Shimon Peres gushingly endorsed Zionist Union (Labor) leader Yitzchak Herzog for Prime Minister of Israel on Thursday.
While at the same time Peres studiously managed to avoid mentioning Herzog’s rotation partner Tzipi Livni at all.
Herzog and Livni put together a rotation deal, where each will get to be prime minister for two years.
Some in the Labor party view Livni’s ongoing presence as a liability for the party.
Yesh Atid is worried that Peres’s endorsement of Herzog will negatively affect the Yesh Atid party by drawing leftwing votes away from Yeshi Atid to the Zionist Union.
