Turkish journalist Faruk Kose called on the country’s Jews to collectively issue an “apology” on behalf of Israel for Operation Protective Edge, in a column he wrote in the Yeni Akit, a pro-government newspaper published in Istanbul.

Other Turkish citizens responded by rioting and attacking the Israeli embassy in Ankara, and the Israeli consulate in Istanbul. The Israeli government withdrew all non-essential personnel from the country for safety reasons.

Following the war, Erdogan’s supporters in Turkey called on Turkish Jews to “pay” for the “crimes” of the State of Israel following its defensive counter terror war this summer in Gaza.

Turkey has also continued to host top Hamas terrorist Salah al-Arouri safely in his country, far from the reach of justice.
