Until now, regulated beaches in Israel (with a lifeguard) have had a 3 flag notification system for water wave/height/water safety.
White Flag (All’s clear – does the water surrender?)

Red Flag (Exercise Caution when in the water)
Black Flag (Danger – Do NOT enter the water!)
Now a new flag has been added – the Purple Flag, indicating that there are jellyfish (meduzot in Hebrew) in the water, and that one should exercise significant caution.
Enjoy the water – the weather’s going to get really hot again this week…
