Following the news of North Korea’s warning it is planning a “big event” soon, probably a nuclear test this weekend, NBC News has reported, quoting multiple anonymous senior intelligence officials, that the US is considering launching a preemptive strike with conventional weapons against North Korea.
According to the NBC report, the US has positioned two destroyers capable of shooting Tomahawk cruise missiles 300 miles from the North Korean nuclear test site. Also, US Air Force heavy bombers have been moved to Guam to drop conventional or nuclear charges on North Korea should the need arise. The aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson is on its way to the area as well.
