Israeli legal watchdog Regavim has released a scathing new video accusing the European Union of double standards and demanding they stop their illegal settlement activity on Israeli land. The video was made in collaboration with Israeli video artist Ezri Tubi, in response to European Union claims of diplomatic immunity when Regavim sued them for building more than 1,000 illegal structures across Area C of Judea and Samaria — land which should be under full Israeli control according to the Oslo Accords.
The EU buildings were erected in the guise of humanitarian aid for the Palestinians, but Regavim’s research indicates that they were part of a larger EU strategy to unilaterally create Palestinian political realities on the ground in defiance of Israel and contrary to the Oslo Accords.
Prime Minister Netanyahu recently excoriated the European Union over these violations, as did his Deputy Foreign Minister Tzippy Hotovely.
Ari Briggs, international director of Regavim said in a statement: “The EU has spent hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ euros to erect these building in defiance of Israel. We have found more than 1,000 buildings proudly displaying the EU flags built on Israeli land without any permits. Their actions are clearly illegal according to international law and it’s time that they be held accountable.”
